by Results Realty Group LLC 11/10/2019

If you live in Florida, you may decide to take up gardening as a hobby. The truth is that gardening can be more than just a simple bobby, it can help you to grow some of your own food and liven up the landscape of your home. If you don’t have any experience with gardening, don’t worry because everyone needs to start somewhere! Use this guide below to help you learn the basics of gardening. You’ll be enjoying beautiful flowers and delicious homegrown vegetables in no time. Knowing that you grew vegetables and flowers on your own will give you a great sense of accomplishment.

Get Dirty

If you want to garden, the first thing you need to know is that you’re going to get dirty. You need to dig in the dirt to get some results. The soil is where gardening becomes both therapeutic and good exercise.

If you’re planting vegetables, you’ll need to dig deep into the ground by hand to plant most varieties. Next, firmly pack the dirt around the vegetable that has been planted.

As you learn more about gardening, you’ll learn that your hands are your most treasured tool. The only time that your hands aren’t useful is in the case of rocky, hard to handle soil.

Use Fertilizer

Gardeners tend to have a preference as to what types of soil and fertilizers they like to use. If you’re just starting out, you’ll learn what you like over time. The kind of soil and compost that you use are actually dependent on one another. The important thing to note is that any type of organic content or compost will help your plants to flourish.

With fertilizer, you want to bring in worms. Here’s why: Worms eat the soil, then they release more organic compound into the soil, helping it to continue to be healthy. These worms will continually benefit your plants.

Water Regularly

As a gardener, you’re going to need something to help you regularly water your plants and flowers. More experienced gardeners may have sprinklers, or other automatic watering devices installed, but as a beginner, all you really need is a watering can. A watering mechanism will help you to time your waterings and ensure that they are on point with frequency and the amount.

Access To The Sun

Besides your hands, the sun may be the second most important tool that you have as a gardener. Plants need sunlight to perform photosynthesis in order to grow. Gardens cannot grow in the shade. The need for light means that the area where you choose to grow your Florida garden is crucial to your success. Your garden needs the right amount of light to thrive and survive.

These are the main tools that you need to start a garden. It will take some work and dedication, but it’s not as difficult as it may seem.
